Mini solotrip to Almuñécar

In love with life. Discovering that taking mini solotrips is making me almost as happy as long solotrips opens up a lot of opportunities for the near future. This one went to Almuñécar, a nice little town between Nerja and Motril at the Costa Tropical. It’s a cute place with many nice squares and a lot of history. Almuñécar began as a Phoenician colony named Sexi and later on became a fishing town. Although nowadays it’s quite touristy, it still has the feel of the old days.

Mejillónes – Mussels

Just sitting on the beach, wind going through my hair, sun warming my face, listening to the waves to break at the big rocks. And of course you can find lots of fresh sea food! Simplicity. Happiness.

Bluswater

Eens even in de achtertuin vragen..

♫ Torgeir Waldemar – Streets

Probeer maar eens iets te schrijven wat deze plaat recht aan doet. Het lukt me niet. Kan niet stoppen met luisteren. De puurheid raakt me vol in m’n hart.

♫ Parov Stelar – The Demon Diaries

Discovered this night that the album came out and I already have a few favourites: I Need L.O.V.E., The Lonely Trumpet and Keep This Fire Burning. It seems that this album is a bit more electro where the previous ones were more swing. I’m not complaining. Still a huge fan, even after the last concert.

And this one makes me happy and long for the summer. Oh wait, that has started already 🙂

Parov Stelar – The Sun

Solo trip to Málaga

Since my last solo trip was over a year ago I thought it was about time to hit the road. A tiny trip though to Málaga..

As I am still trying to do things ‘for the first time’ now I decided to finally go Couch Surfing. After some research on reviews on the website and a few e-mails back and forth I was confident enough to book the accomodation. As 1 May is a holiday in Spain (Labour Day) I had a nice long weekend ahead.

One of the flamenco singers in front of Pimpi

The bus trip went fine but as I went along I got a bit scared that I didn’t have a plan B in case the whole thing would be a disaster. But plan B’s are nonsense anyway. The guy appeared to live almost next to the bus station so that was perfect. He and his flat mate were really nice hosts and we sat down drinking wine and eating cheese and olives all night talking about the good things in life. Love those kind of encounters.

On Saturday I went out on my own. Strolling through the streets and the harbour. Since it was the weekend of Cruces de Mayo (another holiday) there were flamenco dancers in the streets everywhere. My host advised me to go to El Pimpi for a drink and a bite. I didn’t even have to look for it, I walked in intuitively. Very nice place, friendly waiters and a flamenco show right in front of me on the terrace. Have been sitting and enjoying there for hours. Just being happy.

In the evening even more ‘first things’ as I was meeting some people for a HDR photography meetup. That too was a very nice experience. Likeminded people, easygoing and very open and social. Made a couple of new friends there I think. Can’t wait for the next meetup! Still feel like a complete nerd with my camera but I just love to practise.
